China-Aid Project of National Wrestling Arena in Senegal, located at Dakar, capital of Senegal. Sitting on 7 hectares of land with 18,000 sqm of floor area, it can accommodate 20,000 spectators. The structures comprised of: the oval-shaped competition venue; an affordable wrestling area positioned inside the venue; entrance for contestants; 2 warm-up lounges for contestants; 2 ramps for contestant’s folk performance; performance area for singer; media lounge and so forth. The best merit of the arena structure shall be its upper canopy shell. With the peak height of 50.46 meters and longitudinal and transverse span measured as 206.9 meters and 45 meters respectively. The outward appearance of canopy shell featured itself as a golden belt.
Upon completion and final acceptance certified, the project has been entitled as excellent engineering and become very first modern wresting stadium in Africa region. Wrestling is reputed as “national treasure” for Senegalese, thus the completion of the project will carry forward the protection and inheritance of culture and traditions in Senegal and contribute to the cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Senegal.
